Project Overview
I led the UX/UI design for Smart Pins, a feature within AerieHub's Space Management module that helps users document and track facility equipment and needs. Using movable pins that retain their attached information, users can mark and manage critical locations anywhere on their floor plans.
Role & Responsibilities
Sole UX/UI Designer
End-to-end feature design
Implementation planning and product specification documentation
Cross-functional collaboration and meeting facilitation
Design implementation oversight and QA
Collaborators
CEO, Development Team, Operations Team, Sales Team, Facility Stakeholders
Challenge & Context
Hospital and university clients requested a way to document both facility equipment and specific needs across their buildings. Equipment often moved between spaces, so staff needed location markers that would retain equipment documentation even as positions changed. They also needed to easily view all locations where specific types of facility needs occurred.

Iteration & Improvement
The initial design automatically displayed all location pins on the floor plan, but this quickly became overwhelming during initial testing as users added a lot of content. To address this visual clutter, pins were made hidden by default and global show/hide controls were added to complement the existing pin group toggles. Users can now efficiently manage their view, choosing to display all pins or focus on specific groups based on their needs.
As an improvement, Pins are hidden by default and global show/hide controls were added to compliment the existing pin group toggles
